Low Transmission Fluid Level
If your vehicle has a dipstick, you can verify this condition yourself. Check the fluid in accordance with the manufacturer's procedure, usually printed right on the dipstick.
If the fluid level is low, add the appropriate fluid. It may just be that the last time the vehicle was serviced they left it a little low. If it gets low again, you have a leak. Unlike motor oil, transmission fluid is never "consumed". So if the level gets low, it's leaking. Have a Free Diagnostic performed to determine why.
If your vehicle is one without a dipstick, then you'll need to schedule a Free Diagnostic just to check the fluid level.
The number one cause of serious transmission problems is being run low on fluid. So if your transmission is running low on fluid, get it repaired, or be prepared for a bigger repair bill later.
